Mapped Encounters: Cartographic Treasures of the George T. Abell Collection

This exhibit showcases a sample of the cartographic treasures from the George T. Abell Collection held in Special Collections at the Mary Couts Burnett Library at Texas Christian University.  The collection includes over one hundred maps that highlight early modern and nineteenth-century achievements in cartography, geometry, and science. A prominent Midland oilman and philanthropist with a passion for maps, Abell's estate bequeathed his collection to TCU in 1984.
